Matangi Island Dental/Medical Mission.  April 20-April 30, 2018

fiji-map-320x200We will be hosted by Matangi Island Resort, a five star resort on its own island off the coast of Taveuni. This mission consists of a full dental operatory of general dentists who will work with our Aseptico units at a field operatory at Matangi Island Resort, complete with autoclaving capability. All of the dental supplies are provided by the foundation. This team will consist of an oral surgeon, dentists and their respective assistants.  Dental clinics will be offered daily at the resort “Dental clinic”. We are looking for dental assistants and one dentist. All other positions are filled.

Additionally, a team of general medical specialists will travel daily by boat to several rural Qamea island villages for the purpose of providing general medical care as well as screening patients as surgical candidates at the Taveuni Hospital in the following weeks. We are looking for a pediatrician, family practice and internal medicine specialists. We are also in need of an eye team. Our optometric teams, using rudimentary equipment, provide primary eye care including assessing for eye pathology, providing treatment of eye disease when possible, referring for cataract and other eye surgeries when indicated, and providing reading glasses and protective sunglasses.

$3350.00 USD per person.  Includes:

  • round trip air, LAX to Taveuni, Fiji, inclusive of all taxes and surcharges, economy class
  • internal land and boat transfers
  • accommodation at Matangi Island Resort and three meals daily
  • all applicable temporary medical and dental licenses
  • transport while in Fiji

Not included: diving, snorkeling and gift shop items

Trip cancellation information is available for purchase on the airline application form which will be sent once you are placed on your volunteer week.
